Wendie Holbrook, RNT, NNCP
I am passionate about all aspects of nutrition and getting to the root of health issues. My personal journey in nutrition and natural health began not long after having my daughter. During my pregnancy, I experienced gestational diabetes and needed to use insulin to help control my blood sugars. Beyond my pregnancy, my doctor labeled my condition as "pre-diabetic" and I continued the battle to keep my blood sugars under control and lose the pregnancy weight for several years. My doctor recommended that I go on Metformin to try and get my blood sugars under control, but I had heard about the negative side effects of this drug and wanted to try and gain control of my health in a more natural way.
During this time, I had attempted several "diets" and different eating plans that helped with some of the weight loss and better blood sugar levels, but the changes were mostly temporary.
I then began to research, on my own, all the possible ways to get my blood sugars regulated and under control for good. My personal studies and interest in nutrition to improve my health unlocked new opportunities for me when she decided to return to school and gain a better understanding of nutrition and all the benefits of working on my health from the inside out, getting to the root causes of my health issues.
My studies led me to new ways of eating and caring for my body including a whole foods, low carb approach which has not only helped me regulate my blood sugars and keep them at a consistent range, but has also helped me lose weight slowly and steadily and keep the weight I had lost off - finally!
As a result of overcoming my own health challenges, I have made a career of my passion to help empower others to make consistently healthy food choices and adopt a more natural lifestyle resulting in an overall better quality of life.
I am an RNT (Registered Nutritional Therapist), NNCP (Natural Nutritional Clinical Practitioner) and I am currently also a Practical Herbalist Student at Wild Rose College of Herbal Medicine.
On a personal note, I spend much of her time with my beautiful daughter enjoying nature on our own 60 acres of heaven including caring for our farm animals, learning to garden and creating a sustainable food supply for ourselves, foraging for herbals and medincals, learning to ride horseback, and kayaking in the summer months.
